Churches Being Told Not to Gather: A Balanced Perspective

Evangelical Christians are in the midst of a serious debate about government mandated “social distancing” and “shelter-in-place” orders resulting in churches all over the country (with few exceptions) no longer gathering on Sunday, perhaps meeting online through Zoom, etc. instead.

Some pastors and parishioners feel it’s time to take a stand.

Others are offering stern, but loving, admonitions about obeying the government and trusting God.

In this vein, Bob seeks to offer a balanced perspective.

Bob Siegel: “One can pray, trust in God, have faith, know that God is sovereign, that He will have His way, that all things work together for good, and still be mindful of the spiritual warfare around us, our own role in carrying out God’s work, our responsibility to carefully monitor our religious liberty, a liberty which the Bible says is conducive to the spreading of the Gospel (1 Timothy 2). Trusting God, but acting as a watchman, are not mutually exclusive practices.”

Bob’s entire response begins roughly 15 minutes into the program.

Also:

-A variety of news items, from election politics to local and state and federal institutions  exploiting our current health/economic crisis. A great deal of humor and satire is offered as a means of easing tensions related to the seriousness.
