NASA administrator, Charles Bolden has been given instructions by President Obama to reach out to Muslim nations. What exactly does our space program have to do with the religion of Islam? A partial explanation was supplied. Obama wants Muslims to feel good about their historical contribution to the space program.

Now, I must confess, this one really throws me for a loop. I realize we have Muslim scientists but I am unaware of what any Muslim country or organization has collectively added to the space program. Oh wait!  Of course. We fired rockets into space and Hamas fires rockets into Israel. I guess there’s a bit of common ground after all. True, when we fire our rockets into space, we aren’t aiming them at anybody, but I suppose that’s just a minor detail.
