In his very first sermon, Jesus promised that His followers would experience persecution, verbal at the very least:
“Blessed are you when people insult you , persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil about you because of me. ”
And, of course, often times throughout history the persecution has been far more than verbal. Christians have been tortured and executed for their faith. While we have not yet experienced anything like that in America, Bob talks about the early Roman persecutions under Emperor Nero and some of the reasons offered in the Bible for the suffering of Christians.
Bob also talks about how the verbal persecution in America is increasing and how we may someday face the kinds of attacks that other Christians throughout history have encountered.
This teaching begins about about halfway into the program.
