Does The Bible Teach That Humans Have Free Will?

Often times, well intentioned Christians articulate erroneous theology which sounds unfair and unjust to the skeptics/unbelievers they seek to reach. One such doctrine is the doctrine of “predestination,” sometimes also referred to as “Calvinism.”  This teaching makes an extremely controversial claim; that God decides ahead of time who will or will not accept the forgiveness of Jesus. I.E. Human beings supposedly do not have free will, and yet this same God will send people to heaven or hell based upon what they decided (or merely think they decided.)

Bob expresses sympathy toward any who would reject such an idea about God’s character. He then critiques this doctrine, reads Bible passages that clearly state human free will, and demonstrates how the word “predestine” while found in Scripture, is taken out of context.
