Theology:
Revisiting a theme that comes up from time to time, Bob talks about the whole concept of judging; how there are certain kinds of judgments forbidden in Scripture but also certain kinds of judgment commanded in Scripture. The most familiar verse “Judge not, lest you be judged” is also taken out of context and does not actually teach that Christians are to never judge, but rather are to only judge if they have first dealt with their own sin.
Current Events:
Bob expresses lament that Hillary Clinton, while caught in many serious lies with irrefutable fact, is still portrayed by the media as having had a victorious day before the Benghazi investigative committee.
Lighter Side of Life
Bob and Dana continue to discuss their recent trip to Florida with some further adventures related to hotel check-in and Bob’s search for the house he was born in.
NOTE FROM BOB SIEGEL:
Toward the end of the program, I began relaying a story about locating my old home in Florida which my family moved from when I was 5 years old. I did not remember the address and my parents (who could have told me) sadly passed away a number of years ago.
I started telling the story of how I did some detective work by finding the obituaries of a another couple which lived on my street, peers of my parents, and how from there I was able to track my own address. This story will be told in more detail next week. We ran out of time at the end of the show. If I’d had more time, I would have described the mixed feelings: There was the excitement of locating my house and learning that friends of my parents had lived in the same home from 1959 when we moved, to 2014 when the husband and wife both passed away. And yet, how sad to hear that they had passed away.
Listening to a recording of the program and hearing my own voice rush over the end bumper music, I realized that the thrill of finding my house was conveyed without the sadness. I regret that between running out of time and speaking so fast, it was not conveyed this week. My apologies. They were wonderful people and although apparently they lived a rich full life, how nice it would have been to locate them in person!
