The Historical Revision of Fairy Tales: Good and Evil Turned On Its Head

Film critic Mark Bubien joins Bob for an important discussion about themes of good and evil in fantasy films and fairy tales. Specific themes include:

-The historical revision of stories such as The Wizard of Oz and Sleeping Beauty where we learn that perhaps the villain was not really evil. Was such fictitious “historical revision” fair to the original authors?  Is it another step toward the indoctrination of moral relativism?

-Other stories that were designed from the beginning to show a good person turning evil, such as Anakin Skywalker of Star Wars or Lex Luther in Smallville. This explores the other side of the coin: Sometimes a story that shows how  human beings gave into their sinful side make important statements and provide the best drama money can buy.
