The news is abuzz with talking heads and in-depth analysis: Why was Paris Hilton spared a mandatory vacation in jail for the possession of cocaine?  Why was she instead offered the consolation prize sentence of community service and a $2000.00 fine?

BECAUSE SHE’S PARIS HILTON !!! THAT’S WHY!!!

Others would have done jail time. Which others?  You know…The one’s who aren’t as pretty, or aren’t as famous, or aren’t as rich, people who would have found even the monetary penalty difficult to come up with.  What is $2000.00 to Paris Hilton?  About the equivalent of  $2.95 plus tax is to the rest of us, barely enough to buy a Slurpee at 7-11.

Oh well. Maybe now that this riveting story is over, our news networks can try talking about something they haven’t had time to get to lately: News.
