In his televised speech to congress in September 2009, our president said, “Still, given all the misinformation that’s been spread over the past few months,I realize…(applause) I realize that many Americans have grown nervous about reform. So tonight I want to address some of the key controversies that are out there.”
A few minutes later, the following was listed along with other “bogus claims” as a key controversy to be straightened out. “My health care proposal has also been attacked by some as a government takeover of the entire health care system…Now let me be clear…(He repeats himself again) Let me be clear. It would only be an option for those who don’t have insurance. No one would be forced to choose it and it would not impact those of you who already have insurance.”
Flash forward: Obama delivered a fun little message to the House Republican Caucus yesterday. Look carefully at his words about the current health care bill.
” For example, we said from the start that it was going to be important for us to be consistent in saying to people if you can have your…if you want to keep the health insurance you got, you can keep it, that you’re not going to have anybody getting in between you and your doctor in your decision making. And I think that some of the provisions that got snuck in might have violated that pledge.”
You should watch him on video to catch the real mood. He sounds mumbling, stumbling and out of control. He is not happy to be admitting this. Well, OK. Let’s give the guy a point or two for at least finally coming clean. And now, Mr. President, if you could apologize to those of us whom you accused of spreading “misinformation”. All we did was reveal what you just confessed yourself about this monster government take over attempt, disguised under the benign name, “Health Care.”
At the end of the day, forgiveness is in order. I don’t blame Obama for being nervous in his speech yesterday. He actually spoke the truth. Perhaps that was a brand new, unfamiliar experience for him, something which needed a little bit of getting used to.
